AIMS (Animal Identification Movement System) helps you meet identification and movement expectations for red-meat traceability while keeping everyday herd administration in one place. AIMS Lite is the free tier: full core traceability for farmers who need reliable records without production analytics.
Built with farmers—not only for them
AIMS was developed in partnership with agricultural stakeholders and farmers who face the same pressures you do: limited time, strict compliance, and the need to get paperwork right the first time. Requirements were refined from real workshops, feedback sessions and on-farm priorities so that screens, flows and terminology reflect South African livestock operations—not a generic overseas product.
That farmer-first approach means guided steps for transfers and vaccinations, clear tag states, and provincial alignment so your data lives in the correct regional context from day one. Your input continues to shape the roadmap as new provinces and features come online.
What AIMS Lite includes
AIMS Lite is free and focuses on core traceability and health recording. Typical use includes linking official tags to animals, recording movements, maintaining vaccination events, uploading bulk vaccination data where applicable, and generating reports or exports for your own records or third parties.
Lite feature summary
- Tag management and linking tags to livestock
- Livestock registration and herd lists
- Outgoing and incoming transfer workflows (with RMIS integration where your account is configured)
- Vaccination records, events, bulk upload and certificates
- Vaccination reports and export to PDF or CSV
- Profile settings including RMIS participation token for scheme-related actions
Where RMIS (Red Meat Industry Scheme) applies, AIMS is built to support industry traceability: your participation token and farm context feed into eligible tag and transfer processes so you are not duplicating work across systems.
Inside the application—what you will see
The screenshots below come from the live AIMS user interface (same flows described in the Farmers User Guide). They illustrate how AIMS Lite supports day-to-day tasks.
Livestock: your herd in one place
The livestock list gives a searchable overview of animals on file. From here you can add animals, open records for editing, or use bulk tools where supported.
Tags: know what is assigned and what is still open
Tag screens help you track unassigned tags, orders and assignments so your identification lines up with physical tags and scheme expectations.
Transfers: movements in and out
Transfer workflows support traceability for animals moving between locations or parties. Outgoing and incoming views keep your paperwork and status aligned.
Vaccinations: plan, capture and report
Vaccination areas let you list events, complete dosing, maintain records over time, and upload signed documentation when required.
Documents and downloads
When you need PDFs, movement-related documents or exports, AIMS centralises downloads so you are not hunting through email attachments.
